Never Forgotten

Life is pretty lonely without you mate. I remind myself every day how lucky I was to have a friend like you for 30 years and I will always miss you. I hope that you’re causing mayhem up there?! 🙃

PS at least you didn’t have to endure that shit show at The Mem last season! 😱

Gone but not forgotten

There’s not been a day when I’ve not wanted to pick up the phone and call or text you, my friend. They say time’s a healer but I’m not at that point yet. You are missed every day and life’s not the same without you. I know you‘ve been keeping an eye on me whilst I’ve been unwell. Thank you. And I’m sorry that I’m not ready to join you yet! Linda and the kids need me more right now.

I know we’d still be laughing and swapping jokes about the madness of Rovers 21-22 season (and planning which away games to go to next year). I bet you loved the minute‘s clap we arranged at Rovers in your memory… just when Swindle scored?! FFS! 🙄😂 I also know you were with

us when we were all in 7th heaven on Saturday. What the bloody hell happened? 😂

Life eh…

Remembering with fondness.

We only knew Tim a short while. He came into our lives when his best friend Paul Richards, married our daughter Linda. He always made us feel very comfortable in his company, as though we had known him forever. My husband Pete doesn’t make friends easily but he liked Tim from the moment he met him. As I said earlier, we didn’t know him very long but we will remember him always. Rest in peace Tim.

One Night in Paris

So many anecdotes of days/nights/weekends out with Mr B , but this one sums him up for me ...

Our design practice had invited Tim and a handful of other clients to Paris for the weekend to watch England v France 6N rugby (A Welshman taking one for the team and yes I did support England).

As humble consultants our budget was limited so we planned to take our guests for a few drinks and a meal before the game. Nothing too flash. On arrival at the hotel Tim clocked that the Gullivers Travel team were also based in our hotel and were meeting and greeting their Full Hospitality guests In the lobby. Never one to miss an opportunity , he introduced himself to the unsuspecting lady in charge and within 10 minutes he had somehow charmed/blagged us a complimentary table for 10 in the 5* restaurant within the vaults…

So, who do you support?

Actually the punchline came from my missus but the story went something like this... not sure what year it was but Tim moved in to a house two down from me in Overndale Road, Downend - the first time we chatted was across the fence and I said the usual neighbourly stuff welcoming him to the area, we got around to hobbies and what we got up to and he mentioned going to football with his mates. Now for most blokes this is that definitive moment, that split second in time when you know it's going to go either way - will we be mates for life or will we just tolerate each other, or maybe it will escalate and violence will ensue, maybe court cases, at the very least one of us will have to move house, if the response isn't to your liking. I eventually plucked up courage…

My memories of Tim

I arrived in Bristol in May 1989 & met Tim within my first week - a night out drinking around Park Street with Ian W, Andy G & others.

The same year we started Tuesday night 5 a side football, Tim retired about 8 years ago, I didn’t last too much longer. I understand that Tuesday night football is still going! A great legacy!

11th Feb 1992

Tim, Yob, Dodge & I got tickets for Liverpool v Rovers in the FA Cup 4th round replay. Tim & Yob supported Rovers, Dodge City & me Liverpool. Carl Saunders scored first, the Rovers end (except Dodge & I) went wild. Liverpool eventually won 2:1 & we drove 6 miles further North to my local for a few beers & a quick visit to my parents house afterwards.

Dodge’s stag weekend London.

We removed all of Tims decision making privileges after he chose…

Unlike Tim to settle for quantity instead of quality at the Chinese? And I seem to remember him acquiring a load of Swindon training gear on that visit too, Will? 😂

Mischief & laughs

Wherever there was Blythie there was always a laugh & surprisingly some mischief - I will tell the tale of one particular incident which those who were there will remember fondly and those who missed the Gas being at a Final in Cardiff will recognise as pure Blythie. So we lost the match (of course) and were drowning our sorrows in a restaurant in central Cardiff. Curtis & I fell for the Blythie classic of "who can nick the biggest item from the restaurant" and went about trying to outdo each other. Seeing that Curtis was doing well with various items of cutlery, salt & pepper pots etc I went for the big one on the way out and stuck the fire extinguisher under my jacket. Result! I was so elated to have won the bet that I celebrated by letting it off in the middle of Cardiff (once a…

Lol. And you forgot to mention the story of how you got kicked out of a club in Barcelona when you thought it would be a good idea to put ice in handbags from a big bag of ice at the bar that Blythie had invitingly cut open… he knew how to get the best out of you, bruv!!😂
