Mischief & laughs

Wherever there was Blythie there was always a laugh & surprisingly some mischief - I will tell the tale of one particular incident which those who were there will remember fondly and those who missed the Gas being at a Final in Cardiff will recognise as pure Blythie. So we lost the match (of course) and were drowning our sorrows in a restaurant in central Cardiff. Curtis & I fell for the Blythie classic of "who can nick the biggest item from the restaurant" and went about trying to outdo each other. Seeing that Curtis was doing well with various items of cutlery, salt & pepper pots etc I went for the big one on the way out and stuck the fire extinguisher under my jacket. Result! I was so elated to have won the bet that I celebrated by letting it off in the middle of Cardiff (once a student and all that). Apparently Cardiff city centre is well equipped with CCTV cameras and the local police had access to it on match day - who knew? Turning the corner we saw a line of coppers heading towards us. Looking behind to see who they were after it dawned on me that I was caught carrying the can. In the back of the van I was somewhat regretting my actions. Once Blythie, Paul & Jayne had stopped laughing hysterically at what a tool I had been, they went back to the restaurant and explained all to the owner. Given his ability to sweet-talk his way out of any situation, Blythie had a joke with the owner who thankfully thought it was funny. He remembered us as being good customers and having a laugh and thankfully decided not to press charges (OK, money changed hands too to replace the extinguisher). I was released and told to behave but when I look back on that incident it sums up Blythie (& Paul) for me - getting into & out of mischief in equal measure. Looking out for your mates was one quality I remember of Blythie from that day and we laughed about it for years afterwards. I will miss Blythie but will look back on those funny moments for a long time. Much missed. UTG.

Lol. And you forgot to mention the story of how you got kicked out of a club in Barcelona when you thought it would be a good idea to put ice in handbags from a big bag of ice at the bar that Blythie had invitingly cut open… he knew how to get the best out of you, bruv!!😂
